Hastelloy B Nickel Alloy
Hastelloy B(UNS N10001) is a nickel-molybdenum (Ni-Mo) alloy specifically designed for highly reducing corrosive environments (such as hydrochloric acid and sulfuric acid). It exhibits excellent resistance to high-temperature, hydrochloric acid, and sulfuric acid corrosion, but is not resistant to oxidizing media (such as nitric acid). It is suitable for use in chemical equipment, acid cleaning systems, and other applications.

Feature
Hastelloy B is designed to promote the formation of the β-phase Ni₄Mo by minimizing the contents of iron and chromium, thereby optimizing its microstructure. It exhibits outstanding corrosion resistance in reducing environments, particularly against moderately concentrated sulfuric acid and a wide range of non-oxidizing acids. Additionally, the alloy offers excellent resistance to stress corrosion cracking (SCC) induced by chloride ions, as well as superior resistance to various organic acids, making it a highly versatile and corrosion-resistant material.
Applications
Hastelloy B is a chromium-free alloy designed for use in hydrochloric acid service. It is well-suited for high-stress applications in gas turbines, withstanding temperatures up to 760°C in oxidizing environments and even higher in reducing conditions. Typical applications include bolts and shafts in gas turbines operating under corrosive or high-temperature conditions.
