Application Scope Of Weld Neck Loose Flanges

Nov 06, 2025

In terms of pressure and temperature, this type of weld neck loose flange is suitable for low-pressure, medium-to-low-temperature pipeline systems with a design pressure of ≤4.0MPa and a temperature of ≤300℃ (subject to material and sealing type). It is well-adapted to scenarios such as civil water supply and drainage pipelines and air conditioning water systems, ensuring stable operation of the system.

In terms of media and materials, it is suitable for pipelines conveying corrosive media or made of special materials such as stainless steel and titanium alloy. Thanks to its ingenious design, the weld neck ring is made of the same material as the pipeline, while the flange plate uses low-cost materials. This combination not only ensures the anti-corrosion performance of the pipeline but also effectively balances costs, making it widely used in applications like chemical pipelines with mild corrosion and seawater desalination systems.

Considering installation requirements, the "loose and movable" feature of this flange makes it excellent in scenarios requiring frequent disassembly or adjustment. For example, it facilitates convenient installation and maintenance in connections between equipment and pipelines, connections at both ends of expansion joints, temporary pipelines, or pipeline systems requiring regular inspection.

In terms of pipeline specifications, weld neck loose flanges are suitable for large-diameter pipelines or occasions with limited installation space. Compared with integral flanges, their split structure reduces installation intensity, making installation easier. They are widely used in projects such as municipal large-diameter water and gas transmission pipelines and auxiliary connecting pipelines of large storage tanks.

In terms of working conditions, they are suitable for systems with stable medium flow and no severe vibration or impact, such as non-high-pressure oil transportation pipelines and ordinary compressed air pipelines. However, it should be noted that they are not applicable to harsh working conditions involving severe vibration or impact, such as high-pressure steam pipelines and reciprocating pump outlets.
