TC2 Titanium
TC2 is a near-α titanium alloy containing 4% aluminum and 1.5% manganese. It offers high strength, good toughness, and excellent corrosion resistance. Typically used in the annealed condition, TC2 cannot be strengthened through heat treatment. It is suitable for manufacturing stamped and welded components, with common semi-finished forms including plates, bars, tubes, and forgings. While TC2 has favorable mechanical properties and low density, it is difficult to machine and tends to absorb impurities such as hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, and carbon during hot processing. TC2 is primarily used in compressor components of aircraft engines and also in structural parts of rockets, missiles, and high-speed aircraft.

Feature
TC2 exhibits tensile strength of 650-750 MPa and yield strength of 500-600 MPa, with 12-18% elongation, balancing strength and formability for forging, rolling, and welding. Stable up to 350°C, it excels in fatigue resistance, ideal for cyclic-loaded components.
The alloy's passive oxide layer provides robust corrosion protection against atmosphere, fresh and seawater, performing well in marine environments. While unsuited for strong reducing acids, it meets general industrial demands.
Fabrication is facilitated by good GTAW weldability and heat-treatability (α+β solution aging). Though machining requires specialized tools due to high strength, TC2's enhanced performance makes it a preferred choice for aerospace, marine, and industrial structural components.
