347 Stainless Steel
Stainless Steel 347 is a titanium-stabilized austenitic stainless steel, distinguished by its exceptional resistance to intergranular corrosion after exposure to high temperatures, particularly in welding and heat treatment processes. This alloy is engineered to address the carbide precipitation issues common in non-stabilized austenitic grades, making it a reliable choice for applications involving prolonged elevated temperature service.
Products Description
Stainless Steel 347 is a titanium-stabilized austenitic stainless steel, distinguished by its exceptional resistance to intergranular corrosion after exposure to high temperatures, particularly in welding and heat treatment processes. This alloy is engineered to address the carbide precipitation issues common in non-stabilized austenitic grades, making it a reliable choice for applications involving prolonged elevated temperature service.
A primary advantage of 347 is its superior resistance to intergranular corrosion, even after prolonged exposure to temperatures between 425-815°C (800-1500°F). This makes it ideal for welded structures that operate at high temperatures, as it eliminates the need for post-weld annealing in most applications. It also offers excellent general corrosion resistance in atmospheric environments, fresh water, and many chemical solutions, though its resistance to chloride-induced pitting is comparable to 304 rather than molybdenum-enhanced grades like 316.

Feature
This niobium-stabilized austenitic stainless steel significantly enhances intergranular corrosion resistance and high-temperature performance through niobium addition. The niobium preferentially bonds with carbon to form stable carbides, effectively preventing chromium depletion in the sensitization temperature range (425~860°C). This makes it particularly suitable for welded components and high-temperature applications (maximum service temperature: 900°C). While exhibiting excellent corrosion resistance in oxidizing media, its resistance to chloride stress corrosion remains limited. The material is non-magnetic in solution-annealed condition.
Applications
High-Temperature Equipment: Boilers, heat exchangers, aircraft engine components (long-term service below 800°C)
Chemical Industry: Strong acid-resistant containers, welded pipelines (no post-weld heat treatment required)
Energy Sector: Nuclear reactor internal components, petrochemical cracking units
Automotive Industry: Turbocharger housings, exhaust systems
