Stainless Steel S32205 is a premier duplex stainless steel grade and the most widely recognized representative of the 2205 duplex series, celebrated for its exceptional balance of high mechanical strength, superior corrosion resistance, and reliable fabrication properties. This alloy features a carefully engineered austenitic-ferritic microstructure (approximately 50/50 phase ratio), combining the best attributes of both phases to outperform many conventional austenitic or ferritic stainless steels in aggressive industrial environments.

Feature
S32205 is a standard 22% chromium duplex stainless steel with a balanced composition of 5-6% nickel, 3-3.5% molybdenum, and 0.14-0.20% nitrogen. The high chromium and molybdenum content, along with nitrogen alloying, provides excellent pitting resistance (PREN ≥ 35) and resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking (SCC). The low carbon content (≤0.03%) minimizes carbide precipitation, while nitrogen enhances strength and stabilizes austenite. Superior to 316L in chlorides, acids, and sour (H₂S) environments.
